Effects of Bovine Prostate Powder on Zinc, Glucose and Insulin Metabolism in Aged Patients With Non– insulin Dependent Diabetes

In a double– blind study conducted at the Sepulveda Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Medical Center in California, 48 men with type II diabetes, ages 60 to 75 were recruited. Twenty five were assigned to the Glucozin test group, and 23 were given placebos. Each was asked to eat a high carbohydrate diet for three days prior to glucose testing. Glucozin was administered 4 times daily for three months.

In the group of patients who had demonstrated elevated blood glucose levels, results showed a decrease in blood glucose levels compared to levels prior to treatment. Both blood and HbAc and TAFGC levels in all patients, who were given Glucozin, decreased significantly. Plasma insulin levels decreased 27.6 % and urinary glucose concentrations were less than one third compared to those found in the pre– treatment group.

Interestingly, both LDL and total blood cholesterol levels decreased with marginal significance in those given Glucozin. Glucozin improves glucose tolerance, and reduces blood glucose and HbAc levels causing plasma insulin levels to decrease. Since zinc acts like insulin in the absence of insulin, Glucozin is also expected to be a strong type I diabetes formula.
